My Experience and Thoughts on Salvia

Johanna Swith
I am an open minded woman, and I like to try exciting things. When I first heard of Salvia I thought I should experience this for myself. Why not? It is legal where I live. I talked to my boyfriend about it, he giggled and said "Well, I guess we could try it..."

Why not try it? I am a responsible adult, and Salvia can not be any worse for you than a night of drinking. I stopped by my local head shop and decided on a 30x vial of grape flavored Salvia, and as the sales lady recommended I also picked up a nice purple water pipe, or bong as some people call them. I will admit I was anxious to get home and have my own experience.

My best friend said "Are you stupid? You paid thirty dollars for this crap? It is fake weed! If you want to get high buy the real deal girl!"

First of all, Salvia is not fake weed. It is not even similar to marijuana in terms of the effects. I was looking for a 'psychedelic' experience, and I certainly found it in Salvia. At first I was a little overwhelmed by the herb, I was tripping! Salvia is no joke, I really enjoyed myself, and so did my boyfriend. We laughed hysterically for about ten minutes. It was great! I loved the intensely mellow feeling that over came me, and I loved the grape Kool Aid flavor. I will admit that I seriously had a blast, and I indulge in the Salvia habit from time to time.

I think that teenagers are going to ruin the Salvia experience for mature adults. Kids shouldn't be screwing around with salvia, because it is intense if properly smoked and in my opinion, not everyone is ready for the level of intensity. I read a few pathetic articles on the subject before I sat down to write about my experience with this herb. First of all, if you are even remotely concerned that you will try to jump out of a window, or you could freak out, then don't do it. No rational or mature adult is going to try to fly, or freak out or attempt anything idiotic. If you would freak out, then why are you even thinking about having a psychedelic experience? Secondly, you really can not compare salvia to LSD or pot because they are not even remotely similar.

I think that Salvia is a great alternative to drinking all night long, or risking a run in with the law over purchasing marijuana. I like salvia because I can escape my mundane life for thirty minutes or so, and feel great the next morning. No hangover! I also believe that if you have not tried it, then you should not even bother to voice your opinion on making it illegal. If the mature and rational person uses Salvia, they can experience a spiritual or just plain fun trip with out the worry of ill effects. Alcohol is much more dangerous. Instead of making this fun herb illegal, why set an age limit on the sale, such as 21 and over? It will be a shame when I can't purchase Salvia because of a bunch of close minded people or some ignorant kids.
