My Eyeglasses Are Half Full

Don't Spill My Glasses

Dave Letterman sent his girl,
it's been two,
two Fridays since

He sent his girl Friday,
of her I didn't glimpse

I couldn't see the car approach (how could I know?)
as I left the house for a bit.

With a bump key (the tools of her trade)
she bumped the lock, then in

She searched from the short list,
through my things she sifted,
for my glasses she searched:
a curious item to be lifting...

Why does Dave wear my glasses?
I look at him in wonder...

Wondering why he now wears my glasses
that would make him blunder and dunder.

You see (or maybe you can't!) my glasses
are half full to me...
to him I suspect half empty,
but who am I to observe?

As Dave announced this week
he's seeing with my half full glasses...
I blurringly now wait for a sign
that he can see at least half fully:
if he can see half fully or more clearly now
since his reign is gone
