People use Twitter for a variety of reasons. Personally, I am a pop culture junkie, so the majority of the people I follow on Twitter are actors, actresses, musicians etc. For me, it provides an opportunity to get a mini glimpse into the lives of some of my favorites. Below are "Fabulous Five" the African American Actress edition. These fabulous women are some of my favorite African American actresses who tweet with the best of them.
Rachel True (@RachelTrue) - Rachel is like no other. Best known for her role as Mona on the sitcom Half&Half", the quirky actress is unapologetically her own woman. As her Twitter bio reads, she is a self-described "Actor person of great verbosity & occasional Scorpio silence." Rachel's tweets cross a wide variety of topics. She's smart, funny, and a little sarcastic. All of these traits make her a great person to follow.
Noteworthy Tweet: @racheltrue got twitter June 19, 08. ancestors are prob like really twitter?! or yah, cause vebosity is genetic. ahem. ->www.juneteenth.com/history.htm
Reagan Gomez (@ReaganGomez) - Reagan is extremely outspoken. The star of the animated series, The Cleveland Show tells you right off the bat in her Twitter bio: "TWEET. A LOT. LOVES MY BLOCK BUTTON. IF ITS 2 MUCH, LOVE YOUR UNFOLLOW BUTTON. THANK YOUJ". She tweets on current events, television, family/relationship issues. Pretty much, you name it and she has probably tweeted about it.
Noteworthy Tweet: @reagangomez I do think the Dems punked out on the Pub Option. But, i've let that and the thought of an SWV reunion go.
Jill Marie Jones (@MsJillMJones) - Jill is best known for the six seasons that she played Toni Childs on the popular show Girlfriends. Jill is one of my favorites. Her tweets range from positively motivating to insanely funny. She allows her T-Bugs (aka "Twitterbugs" bka "followers") an inside glance to her work and home life. She tweets about hanging out with her dog Ciao, what she's watching on television and occasionally will throw in a #JMJFunFact (i.e. her first concert was KISS). She also jumps in on the fun by tweeting about the Trending topics on any given day.
Noteworthy Tweet: @MsJillMJones #Dearfuturehusband Cheaters & Snapped are my favorite shows. Is that a problem? LOL! (I'm just playing)
Taraji P. Henson (@TherealTaraji) - This Academy Award nominated actress is a big Twitterer. Known for her highly praised role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons as well as Baby Boy, and my personal favorite Talk to Me, Taraji always tells it like it is. The single mother often tweets about her responsibilities with her son (i.e. cooking for him or taking him to basketball practice) and her other daily activities such as photoshoots, interviews, and nights on set. She also interacts with her friends, family and fans on Twitter. Taraji demonstrates her overwhelming love for her supporters with her "Iluvmesumu" sign off. Taraji can next be seen in the upcoming film The Next Karate Kid.
Noteworthy Tweet: @TherealTaraji Happy New Day = Happy New Me!!! Yesterday is the past don't know what's instore for tomorrow all I have is NOW! Who's with me?! Iluvmesumu
Holly Robinson Peete (@hollyrpeete) - Holly is another prolific Tweeter. She uses her Twitter page to educate, inform, encourage, and entertain. She tweets regularly during football games (and recently Celebrity Apprentice). She also informs her followers of the causes near and dear to her heart. She even caused a little controversy after expressing how flattered she was about John Mayer's comment about her (before she read his entire Playboy article). Holly regularly tweets back to her followers and engages in conversation and sometimes a little debate too.
Noteworthy Tweet: @hollyrpeete My kids love the nail salon Hubby cringes whn I let the boys get color I think it's harmless ...your thoughts? http://yfrog.com/42jjcj
