My Fabulous Five on Twitter - the Soap Opera Diva Version

With the recent cancellations of The Guiding Light and As the World Turns, it seems as though the soap opera is on a rapid decline. But despite the recent upheaval at CBS, the ABC soap operas, All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital are still going strong. As a life long fan of the soap opera medium, I feel as if I have grown up with some of these characters on daytime. For the past twenty plus years, these characters have come into my life on a daily basis. Now, with social networking sites like Twitter, fans can get a peek into the lives of some of their favorite daytime actors. A few months ago I wrote a piece entitled, "My Fabulous Five on Twitter - the African-American Actress Edition," that highlighted some of my favorite actresses. This month, I will feature, My Fabulous Five on Twitter - The Soap Opera Diva Version.

Chrishell Stause (@chrishell7) - Chrishell has played Amanda Dillon Martin on All My Children since 2005. The Kentucky native , is a pretty active twitterer. In her Twitter bio, Chrishell proclaims that to be "Crazy bout Elvis" and "Loves horses." On an average day, the actress tweets three to four times a day. She often tweets from the set and gives behind the scenes twitpics. Occasionally, she tweets back to her fans.

Sample Tweet: @chrishell7 My brain just got laid. His name? Inception

Denise Vasi (@denisevasi) - When Denise joined the cast of All My Children in 2008, her character, Randi Morgan joined the Hubbard clan and became the daughter- in- law of the iconic Jesse and Angie. In real life, Denise is a model, actress, and avid twitter. She often tweets about her travels between her hometown of NYC and LA where the show recently relocated. Denise also gives insight into her friendship with onscreen frenemy Madison (actress Stephanie Gatschet), NYC restaurant recommendations (@HelloPasta is a favorite of the actress) and the occasion retweet of an inspirational quote.

Sample Tweet: @denisevasi Packing for NYC... Ooohhh the art of trying to fit everythg in a carry on.

Kristen Alderson (@krisalderson) - Kristen has played the role of Starr Manning on One Life to Live for the past 12 years. This is pretty impressive, given that the actress is only 19 years old. On Twitter, Kristen uses her page like many teens, chatting with friends, posting pictures and commenting on reality television. It's also fun to get her commentary on the week's episodes of her show. It's cool that the star of a show is also a fan.

Noteworthy Tweet: @krisalderson wow i
Noteworthy Tweet: @whitewatercrew AFI rocks!!!
