My Family's Christmas Traditions

Lora
This article is about my family's Christmas traditions. Every Christmas Eve my grandmother has a little party to get the family together before Christmas Day. We always have a meat and cheese tray, chips, dip, and wedding soup. We always have wedding soup on Christmas eve and Christmas Day.

On Christmas Day, the family's wake up in the houses and open their presents and watch the kid's eyes light up from the presents Santa brought them. They play with the toys for a while then at about 1:00 every year my grandmother holds her opening presents thing at her house. Mostly for the little grand kids.

Everybody starts gathering at my grandmother's house about 1:00 or 1:30 or so. Then whoever handed the presents out last year, does not hand them out this year it is the other two cousin's turn this year and so on and so forth.

They start to hand out presents and everybody waits to get all the presents they have, and the little kids go first and then the next size up and then my grandmother and grandfather always go last so we know what their faces look like when they open every gift they got.

Our family Christmas tradition is not how any presents you get or who got what or whatever. It is about being with family and friends on the holidays. Most of my family would rather have friends and family for the holidays instead of presents or anything such as that.

My family is not hard to please and we do the same thing every year. Usually if you have a tradition in your family you stick to it and never change anything about it. That is the good part about my family. We never change anything that has to do with Christmas only maybe the food every year.

Another tradition me and my grandmother has is every November after Thanksgiving, me and her make about 50 dozen of cookies for her house for the kids that come for Christmas Eve and Day. Not county the fruit baskets and the flowers that we buy to take to neighbors houses to wish them a Merry Christmas.

My family has a weird tradition for Christmas, but it is the way my family has done it for years upon years and we will never change what we do.

Me and my grandmother every year always buy fruit baskets from the same place and had then to the same people every year. Just to see the reaction on their faces every year tells me that everything we have done is worth it no matter what we have changed or not changed.
