My Family's Memorial Day Traditions

Lora
This article tells about my family's Memorial Day traditions. We always do the same thing every year on Memorial Day to celebrate our family who is no longer with us to celebrate it.

My family and I every year on Memorial Day go to the cemetery's where our late family members are and we get little American flags and put them by their graves and we also plant flowers at the graves sites.

Most of my husband's family was in the military and Memorial Day is the time we thank them for protecting our country when they were alive.

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who served in the military, army, air force, & the navy. Mostly everybody in my husband's family besides the women were in almost every part of the military, army, air force, & navy. So Memorial Day is the time to spend with your loved ones that are no longer with us.

So we spend most of the day at the graves of our late family members and when we are done at the graves, we go home and have a big celebration to honor them some more.

We have a lot of food for a cookout and the whole family sits around a fire and reminisces about how my husband's grandfather protected our country when he was in the military and how my husbands dad, uncle, and cousin's, whom are still alive, protected our country as well.

If it wasn't for the veterans our country would not be what it is today. We owe our lives to these people and they deserve to be honored everyday of their lives.

Memorial Day is a very big tradition in our family because it is a time to remember our late family members and how great they were and how they put their lives on the line for our entire country so we would have a place to call home.

The veterans of all branches of the military, navy, air force, and army deserve to be remembered no matter if they are no longer with us or if they still are with us. Nobody besides these people deserve a holiday like this. If it wasn't for all the veterans, who put their lives on the line for us, then we would not be here in the place we are right now.

So from my family to all the family's and veterans who are no longer with us, I want to say Thank You for giving me a place to call home. I will celebrate your courageous victories for the rest of my life.

My Memorial Day's for the rest of my life will be about those who we lost during the wars and those that are still with us to show the appreciation of what these people did for our country.
