In My Farm Life, players take on the role of Lisa and will experience the upkeep of an incrementally growing farm in order to earn cash and trophies. As the game's concept takes on that of a television show, each level is presented as a specific episode where efficient timing at accomplishing given tasks can also earn good viewer ratings.
Like most typical games in the genre, things start off fairly easy with only a few jobs to be done and only simple tasks to accomplish. Initially this includes basic steps one would expect in farming such as planting seeds, harvesting the crops, and milking a cow. With game progression, the number of tasks increases along as a result of the number of product orders. This in turn creates new challenges that require quick multitasking while racing against the clock. With the start of each new episode, new items for the farm become available. This includes new seeds that create a larger variety of produce along with new resources and upgrades to be used on the farm.
There are also some additional and interesting features that breakup the routine gameplay. Helpers can be called in to assist beating the clock at while harvesting, and a routine round-up mini-game allows players to quickly gather a number of animals for bonuses. The game also rotates between night and day. While production on the farm is in full swing during the day, night-time proves to be much slower and also very inviting for thieves looking to ruin the shows rating by stealing things. Guard dogs and lights are helpful in deterring theft, and as a form of consolation to any lost goods, the game introduces a conveniently reappearing trader who offers goods that are beneficial to beating the current episode.
The game features 50 levels (episodes), and two modes of play are available - Casual and Expert. Unlike Expert which is for more experienced players, Casual play is a bit easier for new gamers and includes helpful hints.
While My Farm Life doesn't offer any groundbreaking innovations, it does offer excellent time management play that includes a variety of challenges and activities within a game that demonstrates great production and development qualities.
