My Favorite 5 Inspirational Bible Verses

Cheryl Williams
The Holy Bible is filled with many inspirational verses. These verses are meant to give one hope during difficult times. They are also meant to help people realize that everyone is valuable in the eyes of God. I have several Bible verses which are particularly meaningful to me. Here are 5 of my favorites, all taken from the New International Version:

Romans 8:29: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
This verse tells us that no matter what difficulties we are going through, God is with us. If we continue to have faith and believe in Him, He will turn our difficulties around for good. I know that this is true. I was sexually abused by my father from the ages of 11 to 18. I found my strength from God. One day He spoke to my heart and mind, telling me that I should help others who had also suffered through sexual abuse. As an adult, I have worked with children, teenagers, and young women who have been victims -- letting them know that they are worthy and beautiful. My story of survival has given them hope.

Romans 8: 26-27: " In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will." This verse tells us that God is with us, even when we are feeling weak and discouraged. Have you ever felt so lost that you had no idea what to even pray for? According to this verse, the Holy Spirit will actually pray for you. The Bible says that the Spirit "groans" for us. How powerful is that? I can think of many times in my life when I felt lost and disconnected from God. When I my baby was stillborn at 7 months old, this is the way I felt. I felt as if nothing mattered. Still, I could feel the gentle hands of God upon me. I believe that the Holy Spirit was interceding in my behalf.

Psalm 139: 13-16: " For you created my innermost being: you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." This powerful verse is another one that tells us how unique and special we each are to God. This verse is the verse that convinced me to be pro-life instead of pro-choice. I do understand the plight of someone who is faced with an unwanted pregnancy. This verse, however, makes it clear that no life is an accident. God placed the child in the womb for a purpose. Perhaps that purpose is to become a gift to a couple who cannot have a child.

John 3: 16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." This verse show the ultimate sacrifice that God made for all of us. Can you fathom this? Think about it. Think about giving up your only child so that everyone else in the world can live. This verse always brings me back to God when I fall away from Him. We all fall away at times. We get lost in our selfish desires. We put God last instead of first. When I fall away, however -- and stop to think about this verse, I always turn back in the right direction. I do not want God's gift to me to be in vain.

Psalm 23: 1: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." This short verse says it all. The Lord will never forsake me. He will supply my every need. When I am anxious or filled with worry about my future, this verse inspires me to let go and trust God. I recently had to let go of that fear when I was laid off from my job. My financial future was uncertain. Knowing, however, that I am in God's hands, has helped me to release that fear.

If you need inspiration in your daily life, there is no better place to look than the Holy Bible. What you find there will be life-changing.
