My Favorite Chritmas Story Part 2

The Blonde Geek
The Villagers began calling Nick, Saint Nick because of the work they now knew he had done for the kids. Nick was embarrassed about this, for he was but a simple man who loved all the children even the bad ones of the world. He and the Mrs. were never blessed to have any of their own but they did adopt about 300 of those damn elves.

Oh, do not get me wrong dear reader, Nick had loved those elves at first, but as the years went but they were always so cheerful, sweet and always busy in his workshop. He could not even go in there any more without someone asking his opinion on this toy or that one. There were days when Nick wished they would all just pack up and get out of his house, but he also knew he would miss them if they really did ever leave.

Therefore, Nick dealt with the elves, who were multiplying rapidly or so he thought. There were so many of them he could not keep count any more. He set up areas in his home that were off limits to any elves, this way he and the Mrs. could get romantic every now and then. He so hated this once a year thing, he was a mortal man. Sure he knew were all the bad girls lived but he was not about to hang his suit up in any house but his own.

Nick went out to feed the reindeer but he found they had all gone out into the woods to play those infernal reindeer games! He hated how they played so much when there was so much work to do.

Nick went into his house to rest a bit, when he heard a knock at the front door. He yelled since no one will answer the door that I would. Nick was so angry at some things around his home that one day when a little girl dressed in a white gown, with wings knocked on his door he laughed. For the tiny girl was hauling a huge tree behind her, it was so big that he wondered how in the world she did it. She simply told him, nothing is hard when you put your back into it.

Nick laughed at this poor little girl, and went to feed the animals and tend to the gardens. The little girl followed him about his chores with a watchful eye, never saying a word, but she dragged that huge tree with her everywhere they went.

Nick had so many animals around the house to feed all the elves, not to mention the huge garden were many vegetables grew. When you had 300 adopted children that meant many hungry mouths to feed on any given day, and he knew they should be out here helping him, but they we off doing other things.

Curiosity got the better of Nick and he asked the little girl with wings, why she would keep hauling that huge tree around. The little girl also told Nick that this tree was his; she was giving it to him as a present. He patiently said no, walked into his front door, and shut the door on her. Nick went into the kitchen to fix him self a nice ham sandwich. There was no mayonnaise to put on his sandwich, and he knew who had finished it and put it back in the refrigerator empty it was those damn elves.

He ate the ham sandwich dry, and washed it down with some Christmas spirit. He felt mush better and he thought he would do down to the pond and jump in.

When Nick went out the front door there sat the little winged girl beside the massive tree. Nick asked her way she just did not give up and she replied. "This is a gift to you Nick" she snapped her fingers and on came million of little colored lights on the tree. Nick had to admit it looked very pretty with all those lights dancing but he was allergic to pine trees.

I will give you a nice high perch to sit Nick said and with one quick motion that angel appeared to be sitting a top the tree. The angel had a smile on her face, must be she is a wild one thought he, but anyhow that is how the tradition of the angel upon the tree came about!
