Easy, Fun, Free Ideas that I Always Use

Kelly Rolka Nelson

In today's world, with the economy being bad, people want to know how to get something for nothing. These money saving tips are really simple, & can be fun at the same time!

1.Craigslist

Selling on craigslist is awesome! There's no sellers fees, so I can keep all the money I make. I sold a refrigerator on there, tons of furniture, baby items, toys, clothing, & much more! I usually check to see what other people are selling their item for, then I put mine a little lower. Always clean what you are selling, then you will most likely get the price you are asking. Another thing, I always put a picture up of what I'm selling, make sure it's a good picture & not blurry.

2.Halloween Costumes

My kids & I have so much fun using our imaginations creating Halloween costumes! We use whatever we have already. Just search your closets, attic, basement, & garage, you'll be surprised with what you come up with!

3.Greeting Cards

If you have a computer & printer, you can make your own cards.I recently did my own with the help of my 14 year old daughter. In your search box on your home page, put "free printable cards" you can choose what site works best for you. Even if you don't have a printer, you can still go to the library & print them there.

4.Babysitting

If you & your friend or relative both have kids, why not take turns watching one another's children? What I do is (I have 3 teenagers & a 3 year old) if one of my teens' watch their little brother, they get computer time in trade! They always want to use my laptop, so this works out great for me!

5.Walking

From Spring to Fall, I usually walk up to the store for what I need. This saves on gas, & is great exercise! It's about 20 minutes each way, plus about 20 minutes shopping, so I get my hour walk in daily. It's nice because all in one area there's a grocery store, dollar store, gas station, drug store, & thrift store. Also, if you drive to a shopping plaza & plan on going to multiple stores, park in the middle & walk from place to place.

6.Clothing Swap

Teenagers that have friends the same size as them can trade clothing. My daughter & I wear the same size shoes, so we often trade off. Also, before donating some of my unwanted clothing, I let my girls take what they want. Another thing you can do is to check online for clothing swap parties or events in your neighborhood.
