My Favorite Guy Contestants from Season 7 of American Idol

Andi Hunt
After watching the first night performances of the guys from Season 7 of American Idol, I have determined my favorites to make it into the top 12 of the competition. I am very impressed with the talent that the show has found for this season. Even after 6 seasons, the show just seems to get better.

We are finally down to the top 24, with twelve guys and twelve girls left in the competition. The guys were the first to perform Tuesday night, and the girls will follow on Wednesday night. After watching the two hour show Tuesday evening with a 60's song theme, I already have picked the six guys I feel will make it into the top 12. There will be 6 guys and 6 girls, who will ultimately make up the top 12 after America votes for the next three weeks.

My favorite guy so far has to be Michael Johns. He is 29 years of age from Buckhead, GA. His performance was electrifying and looked effortless. From the beginning of the competition, each of his auditions have been excellent. He stays consistent and looks like a pro on stage last night. I definitely see him making it into the top 12 and having a great chance of winning this season's competition. Even if Michael does not win this season's competition, I have a feeling that a record label will scoop him up quickly.

David Archuleta, a 17 year old from Murray, UT, has to be my second most favorite guy in the competition. His innocence and charisma makes him the most likeable contestant on the show. He has a very mature voice for his age and definitely knows how to perform. I can see him making it into the top 4 of the show. The only concerns I have about David is that I don't know if he can be sold as a top selling recording artist, and I am not sure what genre he would fit in.

Jason Castro has to be my third favorite performance from last night's performances. Jason is 20 years old from Rockwall, Texas. His unique style, long dreds and voice had me hooked from the minute he opened his mouth. He also stood out by playing the guitar while singing his song. He definitely left a great impression once his performance was over.

David Cook, a 25 year old from Blue Springs, Missouri, brought a rocker edge to the show. He delivered a solid performance and looked very comfortable while on the stage. He reminds me of Chris Daughtry from Season 5. I could see him as a front man of a rock band and selling millions of albums in the music industry.

If he does not make it into the top 12, I will be very shocked.

Another great rocker performance was delivered by Robbie Carrico, who is 26 years old from Melbourne, Florida. He had the rocker style and voice down to the tee. His performance was unforgettable. He should be another guy who gets into the top 12 of the competition.

The last guy to finish out the top 12 will be David Hernandez. David is a 24 year old from Glendale, Arizona. His performances have been consistent and solid each time he has performed throughout the audition process and from last night. I am not sure which genre he would fit in, but he can definitely blow. I see him as being the black horse in the competition. He may move up in the race and surprise the other contestants if they don't keep stepping up their game.

This season is the strongest that I have ever seen the guy contestants in American Idol history. The girls definitely have a tough road to come. I wouldn't doubt if one of the guys that I mentioned above will be the next American Idol for Season 7. Remember, when it happens, you heard it here first.
