My Favorite Indianapolis, Indiana Wedding Florists

Rebecca White-Glanders
When planning a wedding in the Indianapolis area, there are countless options for venues, wedding cakes and videography. But what about the key element of wedding flowers? Fortunately, Indy offers a wide selection of reputable florists who each bring their own unique touch to the festivities.

My personal favorite is A Bride's Choice Florist, located at 6116 North College Avenue in Indianapolis. After researching florists throughout the Indianapolis area, I chose them to provide the arrangements for my wedding in October 2007. Although I had an idea of the wedding colors which I wanted, I was clueless regarding what types of flowers would complement the tone and venue, and even which types were available. The professionals at A Bride's Choice were very patient with me (our initial consultation took two hours), and were more than willing to pull sample after sample until we found what looked good. Once we had decided upon the primary flower - a breathtaking burgundy calla lily - they provided suggestions on what complementary and filler flowers I might want to use. And they weren't afraid to work on tracking down the flowers I needed, or taking extra effort. One beautiful filler, the Stephanotis, must be separated from its stem and wired into the bouquet. The prices were reasonable compared to other florists when I comparison shopped, but pricing is hard to determine, as it is effected by the season of the flower, availability, growing conditions and other considerations. My most expensive flower was the actual calla lily in my bouqet. A Bride's Choice put the table arrangements together flawlessly, as well. Arranged in the currently trendy "unkempt" manner atop 32" tower vases, they were beautiful. The sheer height of the vases allowed guests to see each other and interact without the arrangements acting as obstructions. Overall, A Bride's Choice did a great job, and I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Apart from A Bride's Choice, there are many other well-known and well-liked florists in the Indianapolis area, the list of which is probably led by McNamara florists. Though a bit pricy, McNamara offers amazing and exotic flowers that are hard to find anywhere else, at a high quality. There are several McNamara locations throughout Indianapolis and surrounding areas.

A more hometown choice is Andrew's Florist, located at 705 Market Street. Their affable manner and willingness to work with you on price and arrangements make them a great pick for those who want to take a more simple approach to planning their weddings.

Flowers are one of the many joys of a beautiful wedding. While I was not picky about many things in my wedding, I was adamant about the quality of the flowers, and I was not disappointed by A Bride's Choice. Regardless of which Indianapolis wedding flower retailer you choose, comparison shop for the best service and pricing, and don't settle for anything less than perfection.
