My Favorite Ipod Applications

There are literally thousands of applications available for the Ipod. There's an application out there to fit practically everyone's needs. Each category has hundreds of different applications. For example, the game category has game applications for roll playing, for puzzles, for simulation and for dice and casino games. There are game apps that focus especially on families and kids. Many game apps are educational, as well, and teach you while you play.

Besides game apps, there are apps for social networking, reference apps, apps to aid you when you travel, weather apps to help you plan your day and applications to help keep you healthy and fit. This is just to name a few. Applications are also available in other categories and all categories have applications that you can purchase and many that you can download for free.

With all the applications available I'm sure that everyone you ask will give you a different answer to the question, "What is your favorite Ipod application?" What follows is a list of just a few of the applications that are my favorite Ipod apps.

1. My number one favorite application for the ipod is the Amazon Kindle application. The actual application is free of charge. You can then shop at www.amazon.com/kindlestore and wirelessly transfer books to your ipod to read now or later. These are the actual complete books, not condensed and most new releases sell for $9.99. There are some free books available and earlier releases at reduced prices. There is no waiting for the book, after you order you can open the amazon kindle application and the book immediately downloads. You can turn the page with the flick of your finger across the page, you can, also, adjust the size of the text and you can add bookmarks at places of interest. You never loose your place because the application always opens back up to the place where you stopped reading.

2. If social networking is your thing then, like me, your second favorite application will be the Facebook application. With this application you will be able to stay connected with your friends by sharing info, checking their status updates and browsing their online photos, even when you aren't near your home computer. You get all of this and the application installation is free.

3. If you need information while on the go then the Google Search application is a must have application. This app will also link you to other applications such as your mail, calendar, maps, Youtube, etc. Another thing that makes Google Mobile a must have is the search features: you can search by voice, Google suggest and search history. The "My Location" feature allows you to search for nearby businesses without having to enter your location. What is it that makes this truly one of the best apps available. It's Free!

4. Whether you are a nurse, doctor, resident or a medical laboratory student, then you will appreciate this application. This app gives you quick access to over 200 common lab values. For example, check out the normal range for a hemoglobin A1C then read the information explaining that a hemoglobin A1C is an indication of plasma glucose over a long period of time and that it is important to monitor it in patients with diabetes. If you still need more information there are quick links to Wikipedia, Medline Plus and Google.

5. Like everyone with an Ipod, I love the games. I have several favorite applications under the games category. One of the first games I purchased was Bookworm by Popcap. In this game you link the letter tiles to the left, the right, up or down to build words. The longer the word the better the bonus. Be sure to watch out for and use up the burning tiles as they will burn up your entire puzzle.
