My Favorite Laptop is in the Dead Infrastructure Society and Replaced by a Dell Studio 14 Notebook

Sheri Fresonke Harper

Like all good laptops born and outmoded, my Dell SRS laptop was a favorite bought for me by my husband on the recommendation of the Best Buy staff. It was fully functional, delivered with all the basic software I needed including MS Office, MS Explorer, and Trend Virus Protection. It died a terrible death when I spilled my ice tea on the keyboard and was not able to be fixed. It became a donation to that fabled land of discarded electronics equipment sent to a recycled facility.

Take this as warning: Keep liquids away from electronic equipment.

The Best Features of My Dead Infrastructure Society Laptop Dell Studio 14 Laptop

The entire laptop was low weight, under three pounds, and slim in design. It packed easily. It also had enough power, memory, and throughput on the laptop to host multiple MS Explorer Windows at the same time without dying. This is essential for most freelance writers since they are working in many venues at the same time.

The Best Feature of My Dell Studio 14

The Best Feature of My Dell Studio 14 is the Sound Blaster 14 Audio that has nearly stereo quality sound. When I click on any YouTube the music is rich and fun to listen to. The second best feature is the beautiful 14" high definition LED display with Truelife Camera.

My Least Favorite Features on My Dell Studio 14

The stupid slide bars aren't marked and I'm constantly zooming in or out or panning by accident. My other laptop didn't have this horrid feature and that was another reason why it was my favorite. My second least favorite features is the big fat end of the laptop which makes it really hard to pack. It has a 56 hour working lithium ion battery which is very nice to have.

Features I Added to My Dell Studio 14 that My Favorite Laptop Didn't Have

I made sure I bought the fastest chip, an Intel Quad Core i7-720QM Quad Core Processorer with a 6MB Cache to help boost the performance. Games play pretty well and I love full screen mode.

I still wish I had my last Dell SRS Studio 14 laptop but this current one is almost as good. The truth is I am so addicted to having a computer I find that a working computer will always be my favorite laptop regardless of any defects. I would definitely buy a slimmer laptop next time, with a smaller screen just because I travel often.
