My Favorite Mineral Foundation: ULTA Minerals Pressed Powder Foundation

Leslie D
I have been into mineral makeup since I first learned of Bare Minerals. However, as with most cosmetic products, I soon started shopping around to find the best mineral makeup after using Bare Minerals. I was surprised when I found that the best brand for me was one of the least expensive.

I was excited when I started using Bare Minerals because I got excellent coverage without the same breakouts and buildup issues I'd had with liquid makeup. However, I soon found that it was very easy for me to apply too much Bare Minerals makeup, and this resulted in caking throughout the day.

From Bare Minerals, I moved on to using pressed mineral makeup. My favorite brand was Pur Minerals. Pur Minerals is available at ULTA, and it is within the same price range as Bare Minerals. I really liked using Pur Minerals because I was able to apply it much more quickly. Since the makeup was pressed powder rather than loose powder, there was no preparation where you tap the powder into the cap, swirl it around, hope you've gotten the right amount, and then apply. With Pur Minerals' pressed makeup, I could just swish my brush in the product and apply. I also found that Pur Minerals colors more closely matched the pink undertone of my skin, making it look much more natural.

The problem I ultimately found with Pur Minerals, however, is that I used it up very quickly, and I was spending a lot of money on foundation. One day, while I was at ULTA, attempting to replace my once again used up Pur Minerals foundation, I saw a sale on ULTA mineral makeup. It was buy one get one free for $14. I have never really had good luck with inexpensive foundations, but I decided to give it a try.

I purchased some of the ULTA Minerals Pressed Powder Foundation, and I have been using it ever since. The obvious benefits of the makeup are that it costs less than both Pur Minerals and Bare Minerals, it lasts me at least twice as long, and the coverage and other benefits are the same. I get excellent coverage, no break outs, and I spend very little money on foundation. I have been very impressed with ULTA's mineral makeup, it is easy to apply and I don't get the same build up that I got with Bare Minerals throughout the day.

On a grade scale, I would give ULTA's pressed mineral foundation an A+. I have been using it for nearly a year now, and I am nothing but pleased. It performs better than either Bare Minerals and Pur Minerals for about half the price, and it lasts longer for me than either of those brands. If you are looking for a great mineral makeup, I would definitely try ULTA's store brand.
