My Favorite Patrick Swayze Movies

Patrick Swayze was born on August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas and was the second child of his mother, Particia Yvonne Helen and his dad, Jesse Wayne Swayze. His dad passed away in 1982. He has two younger brothers, Don and Sean Kyle as well as two sisters, Vickie Lynn who passed away in 1994 and Bambi who was adopted. Patrick Swayze lived in Houston Texas in the Oak Forest neighborhood up until he reached age twenty. While still living in Houston, Patrick attended St. Rose of Lime Catholic School , Oak Forest Elementary School, Black Middle School as well as Waltrip High School. Swayze pursued many skills such as ice skating, ballet and also participated in many plays during his school years. In order for Swayze to be able to complete his formal dance training at the Harkness Ballet and Joffrey ballet schools, he moved to New York City in 1972. Patrick Swayze died on September 14, 2009 from pancreatic cancer. He was 57 years old and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi.

Dirty Dancing

This 1987 film gave Swazye his first breakthough role within the film industry. His co-star was Jennifer Grey.

The Outsider's

This film was the first one to give Patrick Swayze notice in the film industry. His co-stars were Rob Lowe and C. Thomas Howell.

The Renegades

Swazye made several appearances in this short lived 1982 series which aired on televison.

Ghost

This 1990 blockbuste gave Swayze his biggest hit in the film industry. He played the role of Sam Wheat. His co-stars were Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg.

North & South

This 1985 Mini Series was Swayze's first major film success

North & South, Book 11

Revised his role of Orry Main in this 1986 sequel.

Steel Dawn

Played the role of Nomad in this 1987 film.

Roadhouse

Played Dalton in this1989 film.

Point Break

Played Bodhi in this 1991 film and his co-star was Keanu Reeves. Swayze was also nominated for MTV Most Desierable Male

Fatherhood

Played Jack Charles in this 1993 film

Heaven and Hell: North and South Book 111

Reprised his role of Orry Main in this 1994 mini series sequel

Three Wishes

Played Jack McCloud in this 1995 televison film

Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything!! Julie Newmar

Played the role of crossdresser Vida Boheme. Nominated the Golden Globe Award for best actor in this 1995 film

Letters From A Killer

Played Race Darnell in this 1998 film

Patrick Swayze's last role was in an A&E TV series, The Beast, where he had the lead role of FBI Agent Charles Barker when it premiered on January 15, 2009. Swayze was not able to promote the series due to his declining health and only five months later on June 15, 2009, the show had been cancelled as reported by Entertainment Tonight.

    Bandit: Great actor. Had some great movies. My favorites were Dirty Dancing and Ghost and all the North/South movies. .

    I loved him in "North and South." It was his best work I think. Of course, I also love "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing."
