Samsung Rogue SCH-U960 Cell Phone
I learned how to text with this cell phone. The keyboard slides out and is very easy to figure out. Although the Samsung Rogue has many features, I mainly use it as a basic cell phone and text gadget. It's very simple to operate, and I look forward to having text conversations with my husband each day.
Kindle
A friend of mine once joked at me about how my computer had become my appendage. Every time he saw me, I was sitting in front of that computer. As of May, my Kindle has met the same fate. I take it everywhere with me, whether it's a long trip or anywhere I have to wait for a period of time.
I love the way I can organize my books into collections. That is the ultimate feature of the Kindle for me. I don't have to scroll through the pages or rely on the search feature when I'm trying to find a book or a sample that I want to read.
I use Facebook to keep in touch with my family and select friends whom I've met while blogging and on Twitter. Facebook is also a great way for me to find groups for the topics that I'm interested in, such as writing and music.
Not only have I used Twitter to meet and network with people, but I have also used it to collect and share information about the topics that interest me. I also appreciate the real-time news updates of events that happen around the world.
Google Books
There has been a lot of controversy over Google and the way it has indexed entire books for people to read for free. That said, I find it especially useful if I'm researching a topic that I can't find books for in my library. Sometimes I'm able to access the books in their entirety, while other times I gain useful snippets for articles or novel scenes.
Google Alerts
Google Alerts helps me keep up to date with the topics that I write a lot about. For instance, when I was writing for a blog network, I wound up getting 3,000 hits one day for a news piece that I had written.
These are my favorite tech gadgets and services. Not only do they help me stay in touch with my friends and family, but they help me write articles and books.
