MY FIRST LOVE

Kathryn Neff Perry
Remember your first love?
I hadn't seen Larry for 22 years until the other night.
I recognized him right away. While driving there I wondered if he would be fat, or bald, or even worse, hard of hearing, since it had been so long. But he looked wonderful.
Seeing him made me feel 15 again. I remembered the first time I saw him. I was 15 and he was home for summer break from Ohio State. He was in my Sunday school class. When I first noticed him he was staring at me too. The next time he looked my way I could feel my face turn crimson. It was another week before he finally asked me out. I remember trying to act like I didn't realize he was walking towards me. He probably thought I was in complete control because I hardly moved. Actually I was trying to keep from fainting.
I watched his lips move when he asked me for my first date. I couldn't hear what he was saying because my heart was pounding in my ears. Then in my most grown up voice I whispered, "I'll have to ask my Mother."
The next few hours were an eternity until my Mother finally agreed to let me go.
The next week was two years long. I picked out 50 different outfits and tried each of them on 20 times.
I talked to my girlfriends who had already had "dates" and asked them what to do about sweaty palms. I bought several different shades of lipstick and new perfume. I was terrified my deodorant would fail half way through the evening.
One of my girlfriends said, "You know Katt, he may try to kiss you good night."
I could feel my face turn red again-just the thought. He wouldn't do that-- it's our first date! Then he would find out---I've never been kissed before. Well, guess what!?

What happened? Did he kiss you? Is there a second page to your story. This was great.

    With Love, Cindy
