My First Mother's Day

M
I was able to celebrate my first Mother's Day when my son was about a month and a half old. It was a simple day but one that I will never forget.

The day started with my husband taking me out to my favorite restaurant for breakfast. It was just the three of us and I was proud as could be of the sweet baby boy that was sleeping on the table as I ate delicious food. We took a little drive afterward as the baby slept and enjoyed some peaceful quiet time.

When we returned home my husband had a Mommy card for me and some beautiful flowers from our baby boy. I remember picking up my son and just gazing at him. I remember thinking that this was my very first Mother's Day and this was the boy who had made it all possible. Looking at him with awe and amazement I realized that this was the child that made me a mother.

I am not sure a person can truly appreciate Mother's Day until they become a mother. The day means so much to a mother when her children are with her and love and appreciation is shown. Mother's do so much to help shape their children into healthy, strong, smart, and confident individuals and make many sacrifices to do so. Yet these sacrifices are nothing compared to the joy her children bring her.

My first Mother's Day ended in a perfect way. I rocked my sweet baby boy to sleep as I sang to him and fell asleep with a great deal of love in my heart.
