And laughed at gossip in childish flights.
And when we grew to know evil,
And the demons chased us into the night,
We distracted the Devil so the other could run.
Together, we lost God and found her again.
We grew into maturity and out of old shoes.
And summer days were heaven
As we lay on the grass and watched the clouds.
And we'd play in the silent snow in December.
Good-byes were slow; hellos were loud.
We were guardian angels for each other.
