My Girlfriend's Boyfriend - a Movie Review

Tracie Walker
Alyssa Milano stars in "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend," a darling little romantic comedy with a huge twist at the end. This is a gem of a film about a sweet, witty young woman who has been hurt before and is reluctant to trust again. However, she falls, one magical day, for not one but two romantic suitors and at the end, must choose between them.

One of her suitors is "just a guy," and takes her miniature golfing, on a picnic, going for a ride in his rattle trap old car or just hanging out with his sister's family. The other, rich and suave, drives an expensive car and sets up elaborate dates. Both of her romances are chaste, and both young men seem kind, gentle and really likeable, but at some point you realize which one you are rooting for, and the tension builds as it seems she will choose the "wrong" one, or at least for the wrong reasons. But the ending was totally unexpected and really made the film.

Made in 2010, "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend," rated PG, had nothing objectionable in it at all. It was a sweet and funny film with romance instead of sex. Christopher Gorham plays Ethan Reed, an aspiring but discouraged writer, vying for the affection of Jesse Young, played by Alyssa Milano. Michael Landes stars as the charming and rich ad executive also falling for Jesse. Beau Bridges plays Jesse's uncle, and Tom Lenk is her understated brother, the "gum commercial guy."

Any spoilers would indeed spoil things, so let me just say, Rent it, Watch it, Love it. "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" was a delightful surprise.
