My Happiness is My Own Responsibility

Sharon Tulley
I must take responsibility for myself and my own actions,
to know that my own happiness rests upon my shoulders
and no one else, no matter how I care about them,
I cannot put them on some shelf or try to squeeze them
into some mold of my heart's design for they are free, free to be themselves.

I grew up as a girl afraid to lose control while surrounded by control freaks
and those who would manipulate as they could to bend my will to their own.
But all that to say, is that I'm not that girl anymore, I am a woman and my destiny,
my choices in this life are up to me and no one else, I only have myself to blame,
when this life doesn't add up the way I think it should, it is my own responsibility,
to be good to me and make the right choices because whatever happens in life,
it is I alone who will deal with the consequences from the actions that I make.

PS: I apologize to those who I have played the blame game with... I want to set aside games for truth.... and pettiness on my part... to take responsibilty for myself and my own actions.

Amen to that! It's wearing trying to make everyone else happy too.
