My Heart (Poem)

Allana Calhoun
Let us take a journey through this world
we will start right here on the surface
Though we at first seem meandering
I tell you there will be a purpose

Take note of this desert land we're on
so dry and cracked and hard with age
And yet below things seem to flicker
as if this shell were a vellum page

Let us then break through the crust
for what we seek lies far below
We'll find that it crumbles easily
and even more so the deeper we go

Soon we will come upon a protected sea
that glimmers with colors of varying hues
Though its surface appears smooth as glass
within its depths things twist and diffuse

Into this sea we must take the plunge
beware the sensations it will awaken
Your nerves will tingle, your mind will spin
never falter or sanity is taken

We now head toward the deepest trench
the heat increases the deeper we go
We'll soon encounter terrific roiling
and then finally we see hot magma glow

At last we have reached the erupting volcano
this fountain of lava seems ever alive
Bleeding red hot and cooling black coal
we've found that which makes this world thrive

Very good indeed. Love vivid imagery like this. Orchiolum has gone all mysterious!
