My Hero

Susan Elliott
My man stands in front of the stove.
He whisks and stirs.
I sit in the living room
ever a slave to the laptop.
Writing, reading...waiting
for my next point of inspiration,
trying to fulfill my obligations.
I have ignored my hunger most of the day.
Around 3:00,
I finally succumbed to
lemon poppy seed muffins
after downing nearly two pots of coffee.
They were unsatisfying.
I can smell the spicy goodness of chorizo
frying. It fragrantly wafts on the air.
My mouth salivates.
Finally, my prince comes carrying
a tray full of tacos
saving me from my unkempt self.

Love the sound of lemon poppy seed muffins and two cups of coffee. Salivating! Just need a comely maid to bring them to me!
