My Honeymoon Adventure in Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas, the City that Never Sleeps

K.E.W.
With all the pressures of getting married, my husband and I thought long and hard about getting married in Las Vegas. The stress of the wedding seemed to build, and the thought of escaping to Vegas made everything seem so much easier. Although we decided that we needed to have our special wedding day with friends and family, Las Vegas was our choice of Honeymoon destination.

Neither of us had been to Las Vegas before, so it was special that our first trip to Sin City was on our honeymoon. After researching on line through a few travel websites including Expedia and Orbitz.com. These travel websites include hotel reviews that are reviewed by real people with real opinions.

We book our flight and stayed at the Treasure Island hotel. The hotel was beautiful. We couldn't believe how lavish the hotel seemed. It was so large, had it's own full casino, restaurant, stores and the list goes and on. We soon discovered that almost every hotel in Vegas was the same.

Since our honeymoon we have gone back to Vegas almost once a year for a trip. We have discovered a few things. It pays to look for flight and hotel deals through Allegiant air. We found several deals that allow for one of us to travel for free on the plane and includes the cost of our hotel room. This year we booked our flight for around $700. This included two round trip tickets to Las Vegas and 3 nights at the Rio hotel.

I can say that I've yet to stay in a bad hotel in Las Vegas, but I'm sure they exist. We try to stick to hotels that are at least 3-4 stars that are rated by Expedia or Orbitz reviewers. The most important thing to figure out when you are booking a hotel room, is the location of the hotel. Some of the hotels are located on the Las Vegas strip, where some hotels are not. For hotels that are not on the strip, you may need to ride the monorail, or purchase a rental car.

Once you arrive in Las Vegas, I urge you to consider a show. I know, they are expensive, but let me tell you they are worth it. I have been to a show each time I've been in Vegas. My favorite show was Mamma Mia. Mamma Mia is a musical show that is featured at Mandalay Bay. I'm sad to say this show was discontinued in January of this year. You will have the full Vegas experience by viewing at least one Vegas show.

Each visit, I always have to see certain things in Vegas.

  • The Fountains of the Bellagio - My all-time favorite, romantic, and free display to see in Vegas.
  • Fremont Street - The lights of the Fremont street are breathe-taking under the darkness of Vegas at night.
  • Eiffel Tower - The Paris hotel features a large Eiffel Tower. An elevator can be taken to the top to view the majestic city.
  • Stratosphere - The revolving top of the Stratosphere, equipped with rides that are sky high!
  • Volcano Eruption - The Mirage has a volcano that erupts several times a night.
  • Treasure Island - Want some swash-buckling action? View the pirates at the Treasure Island invasion.
  • Hand Blown Glass Art - You've seen nothing like the hand blown glass in the lobby of the Bellagio. Artistry unlike anything other.

Las Vegas is a great vacation destination, especially for your honeymoon. The romance of the city that never sleeps will energize you. Although Vegas revolves around gambling there are so many things to see that are not gambling, this is a great destination for a new couple.

Remember what they say, "What goes on in Vegas, stays in Las Vegas".
