My Intention

Suicide Prevention

April Higney
Intentions set forth to clear a path,
not to stumble over their own feet, to help others find a way.
A concept sometimes misunderstood,
but I really I don't care what they have to say.
There are no rules that make a person agree or disagree.
I may or may not believe in certain things, as one may see fit,
not a saint, and not a devil, but somewhere in between
trying to drive attention to those to see a sign,
hiding behind, or hiding in pain, when there is much more their life can mean.
Maybe a suicide prevention,
help some that may have lost their voice,
sometimes this earth can already contain a hell,
but we can make it better, we have a choice.
We can either learn from it and make it productive,
or wallow in self-pity,
or we can use it as a tool to guide,
or make something beautiful happen, break a cycle of animosity.
Intentions set forth to clear a path,
maybe only one may connect and take,
to turn the darkness into something bright,
for another to read the signs of a sad sad heart,
because one life is worth the fight.
My youth rendered me stupid,
with thoughts of my own demise,
the lack of voice to express it all, missing,
maybe another will see it in one they love, prevention is to realize.
Silence is sometimes not so golden,
lucky for me I didn't cross that line,
and now I have a hand to reach out to, a hand reaching out to me,
and a voice, loud enough to hear,
and guess what, I BELIEVE I'm doing just fine.
So in that pit of darkness and tears,
where you fall into your own, shadow,
believe enough to keep pushing, there are those that can guide,
voice that pain, even when it hurts, the only way it can be let go.
This is the heart of me,
the love, that I know.
