Sometimes I close my eyes;
And I can see myself traveling;
On a two lane stretch of road;
Beginning in the chaos;
Of an endless concrete jungle;
Slowly making my way across the plains;
Cornfields and wheat fields;
Standing taller that a grown man;
Waving in a threatening wind;
In a flash, I find myself in the desert;
Nothing but open sky for miles and miles;
The road is very narrow;
Yet there is plenty of room to turn around;
Across the desolate barrenness;
The mountains loom ahead;
And I feel myself getting excited;
For I cannot wait to see;
What there may be on the other side of those peaks;
Acres or fresh green wilderness;
Redwoods almost as tall as heaven;
Water fountains in grape orchards;
Fruit pressed into wine;
And then, at last, the ocean;
Oh how I long to see it at last!
But this is where my journey ends;
And I cry bitter tears as I awaken;
From my evening slumber.
And I can see myself traveling;
On a two lane stretch of road;
Beginning in the chaos;
Of an endless concrete jungle;
Slowly making my way across the plains;
Cornfields and wheat fields;
Standing taller that a grown man;
Waving in a threatening wind;
In a flash, I find myself in the desert;
Nothing but open sky for miles and miles;
The road is very narrow;
Yet there is plenty of room to turn around;
Across the desolate barrenness;
The mountains loom ahead;
And I feel myself getting excited;
For I cannot wait to see;
What there may be on the other side of those peaks;
Acres or fresh green wilderness;
Redwoods almost as tall as heaven;
Water fountains in grape orchards;
Fruit pressed into wine;
And then, at last, the ocean;
Oh how I long to see it at last!
But this is where my journey ends;
And I cry bitter tears as I awaken;
From my evening slumber.

Wow! :)
Wonderful realistic poetry! The dreams that inspire us and take us to places, usually must needed relaxing places! And it is the cheapest travel I know with today's economy, work, and class schedules! Beautiful escape putting your words into morning visions that set my mind at ease, and I was able to venture a journey of peace today before the chaos starts once again! Thank you the beautiful words and the inexpensive journey!
