My Journey Getting Breast Augmentation Surgery

From Before the Surgery to the Recovery Process

Rebecca Smith
I have decided to share this with you. That is, my experience and journey getting breast augmentation. This is part one of three articles on my real surgery experience.

Before the Scheduled Doctors Consultation

I have been deciding for years on whether or not to get plastic surgery. I have always wanted to get breast augmentation but never had the guts to go through with it. Now the day has come since then, ten years later and two child births I have decided that I am ready to do this. After the birth of my children, I finally had enough. My small breasts were now what looked like elephant ears. Breast feeding takes a toll on a woman's body and the damage it does to women's breasts can play a big role in self esteem. I look in the mirror and see now nothing where a little something used to be. It's rather depressing. I am only 27 years old and have breasts like a woman 30 years older than me. I find it hard to shop for bras and clothing. I feel uncomfortable wearing certain items. I don't fill out anything. I look completely flat chested if I throw a shirt on without a padded bra. It bothers me terribly.

Since I have made the decision to get breast implant surgery and that I am going to go through with it, I started search out my options. I have talked to people who have had the surgery and looked up some local plastic surgeons in my area. My only concern was financing. I stumbled upon this website called Doctorssayyes.com. They get you financing and find a doctor in your area that is Board Certified. The Doctor they refereed me to is Dr. Neil Seretsky located in Dallas Texas.

Doctorssayyes.com was very helpful. They preapproved me for financing and worked out a down payment for me that was affordable. They also have set me up for an appointment for my consultation with Dr. Neil Seretsky in March. After I meet with Dr. Seretsky, we will then schedule a date for the breast augmentation surgery.

So far I can tell you that I am very excited. Before hand I am making sure that my health is well, so I continue to eat healthy, exercise and take plenty of vitamins. I want to be sure that my body is in the best shape it can be for going into surgery.

I am making sure that I make a list of questions to bring to my first doctors appointment so he can address some concerns that I have about the type of implant and after the surgery.

Some of the questions I have are:

How long will it take for me to recover and be able to life things over 5 pounds?

Can I continue to exercise after surgery?

What kind of movement will I be able to do?

Will the swelling be noticeable after a few weeks?

I must admit I am a little nervous about getting this done. The idea of having surgery is a bit scary. The anesthesia is what scares me. I am afraid I won't wake up. These of course are some things I will discuss with the doctor on my appointment.

12 more days and I will drive to the big city and scheduling my surgery! Be sure to check back in two weeks and I will give you the low down on what my doctor has to say.
