Being without insurance for me is like doing without food because I have a history of having tumors in my breast and I was suppose to go back to the doctor for another ultra sound last September, but I could not because I lost my insurance.
I used to be on the medical card when I was diagnosed with a breast tumor in my left breast. I had the biopsy done to remove the tumor, but I was suppose to go back in 6 months to have another mammogram done to make sure there was not another one that surfaced and to check to see if everything was ok with the metal in my breast.
Before I got to go back to the doctor's for my follow mammogram, I had a review come up with my state welfare office. I went for my review and was told that my husband makes too much money for 3 people in the house and he is the only one working. I even told my case worker about the history I have had with my breasts, but she just acted like it did not matter.
What is the world coming to when someone who really needs health insurance has to pay like over 300 dollars a month for when you cannot afford to do that? That is what the welfare office is there for, but for some reason my husbands $8 an hour job is making too much for me to save my life in the future.
I sit and I wonder every day if my tumor has come back, but I will not know until probably my husband loses his job or something so then maybe I might get back on the medical card. That is ridiculous if you ask me. Someone who needs medical insurance is turned away like they are garbage when their lives depend on it.
If you ask me the people who are on welfare and are getting the medical card are lucky because I have been trying now for almost a year to get back on it for my health problems.
Most of the people who are on welfare these days are only on it because they are committing welfare fraud. That is a shame because the people who really need for health wise and stuff their lives depend on cannot get it because other people have ruined it for them.
I just wish our state would take a more understanding look at people who need the medical card and who don't need the medical card. I wish they would because my worries right now would be over until my next mammogram. But seeing as I cannot even get my follow up mammogram done I guess I will just sit here and worry until I something comes my way.

Post a CommentI never even heard of the medical card. Must be something unique to your state. Your area doesn't have any other programs like free clinics or a health department? What about medicaid?
