My List of Must Have PS3 Games

Mark
The fanboys of the world argue that the Playstation 3 does not currently have a sufficient amount of good games available. I argue that this is wrong. In this article, I will discuss several games that I feel every PS3 owner should have or should be ready to buy when released.

To start off, I will discuss the games that are out now that I feel people should own. There are actually many to choose from, and they all range in type of game: Rainbow Six Vegas, Super Stardust HD, DiRT, and Skate. Rainbow Six Vegas is your first person shooter of the bunch. A group of terrorists has invaded Las Vegas, and you're out to save the city. In my opinion, it is a boring story line, but the single player campaign is actually very fun and at times difficult. What really makes this game great is the co-op modes and multiplayer portion. The online multiplayer provides you with several very fun game modes, including my favorite: assassination. One team has to extract the V.I.P. and the other team has to kill them. The catch is the V.I.P. is randomly chosen out of the players themselves, so a different player will be chosen as the V.I.P. each round. There is also Terrorist Hunt. This is a simple game mode where you pick a level and they fill it with dozens of terrorists that you have to find and kill. Playing this online with 3 other friends can be quite fun.

The next game, Super Stardust HD, is a $10 download at the Playstation Store. It's like an asteroids game, only on steroids. You have three different weapons (rock blaster, ice crusher and gold melter) to use on the different types of rocks and enemies. At times it gets so crazy that if you blink you could die. They fill the screen with hundreds of objects, and the visuals are really amazing (especially in high definition). A fun and simple game with one objective: destroy everything that moves. It is a must have for all Playstation 3 owners.

These first two games I have talked about I own. The next two I do not own but have the demos and have played them quite a lot. DiRT is a rally racing game. Not much to say about it except the game has great graphics and I could play it simply for the crashes. If you hit a tree at 90 miles per hour, your car will not be OK. The wheels might fall off, the engine might get destroyed, and your car will definitely crumple.

Skate is, well, a game about skateboarding. It is not like the Tony Hawk series, though. It is somewhat more realistic, and what really makes this game stand out is the controls. It uses the "flick-it" system. To do a trick, let's say an "ollie" for example, you pull the right analog stick back, and then flick it straight up. Your character on screen performs tricks depending on how you "flick it." Again, the visuals are really nice, and the game play is quite addicting.

The next section in this article is games that are coming out soon that I myself really want: Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, Need for Speed ProStreet, Unreal Tournament 3, Half Life 2 Orange Box, Battlefield Bad Company, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Metal Gear Solid 4. Now, I won't go into an explanation on all of these, but there are some that look extremely promising. Grand Theft Auto IV, Unreal Tournament 3, and Call of Duty 4 are probably my top three at the moment. I'm a huge fan of the GTA and Unreal series, and the new "Modern Warfare" aspect of Call of Duty looks really good. The release dates of these games are all over the place, ranging from November of 2007 to middle and late 2008. Be on the lookout for these games, and definitely give them a shot when they are released.

Overall, all of the games I mentioned in this article are worth at least a rental (in some cases just go and buy them). And of the games that haven't been released yet, check them out online, you will not be disappointed.

I've been thinking about getting this for my husband one day. I know that he used to love playing God of War and Devil May Cry games. Thanks for sharing.
