My Little Angel

For My Grandmother Whom Lives on in My Heart

April Higney
For My Grandmother Catherine Sara - (1912-2004)

I miss you.
You were always there when I was young.
When I'd say f$!k this s$@t!
you'd tell me to be a lady and watch my tongue.

I miss you.
You were my mentor, someone to believe in.
When I'd cry, you'd comfort,
showing me laughter wasn't a sin.

I miss you.
You were always so strong.
When I was down you'd pick me up,
teaching me right from wrong.

I miss you.
You held my hand and pushed it away.
You knew my sadness, didn't want me to see you weak,
and it was hard for you to say.

I miss you,
whispered I love you in your ear,
and though I didn't want you to go,
please grandma, rest my sweet little dear.

I miss you.
You gave all that you could give.
I hold years of memories,
you showing me how to live.

I miss you,
I kissed your cheek and told you goodbye.
I know you heard me,
you're my angel in the sky.
