My Little Muse Has Left Me

Ariana R. Cherry-Shearer

The little muse has been reather quiet lately inside my head.
I think he has been spending longer hours in bed.

My notebook paper continues to sit there all blank,
Maybe he's upset about all the money he had to spend filling up his gas tank.

I myself, have been spending time daydreaming out the window
Watching the sunshine, all pretty and aglow
Perhaps I should take some initiative,
and write something down,
Since my little muse has taken off to go

Instead of writing meaningful poetry,
I've been busy shooting the breeze and drinking green tea
Trying to relax, after spending quality time in my garden,
It's been nothing but the pesky bugs and me.

My little muse has left me,
I can't imagine where he would be

I miss the little guy,
On those nights when he kept me awake
I guess I shouldn't have shooed him away and made him cry

Perhaps I should try and go find him to make up.
My paper is nothing but a garbled mess of words that make no sense,
Maybe I should offer him some of my green tea in his cute little tea-cup...

For now, until his return, I will write stories of my muse
Until he returns to and quits feeling so blue

I like this, my muse comes and goes to. Sometimes I think they want to give us a break and get us to drink a cup of tea and day dream in the garden because we work so hard.
