I am scanning the house for something that really stands out. I am looking for a product or household item that is worthy of a review. The only thing I see is a mess. Sitting at my desk trying to come up with ideas for an article has caused me to become slack with the house cleaning. I continue to sit here because I want to succeed at something.
I could write about a recent experience. But what have I done lately? I spent the day at the mall with zero purchases. I couldn't even decide what to buy. I went to Zaxby's for dinner. The food was good but it was crowded and noisy. The news was on when I got home. Not exciting either. What happened to stories about people doing good deeds? The news is full of robberies, murders, and people in high places breaking the rules. I want to see a story that makes me smile.
A book or magazine could provide ideas. I can't remember the last time I actually finished reading a book. By the time I get to the half way point, I am just not interested anymore. I love to read magazines. Elaborating on someone else's article is a possibility. Everything I read seems so well written and to the point. I don't even know where to start.
What about me? Maybe I could write an article about myself. That would be boring. I am happy with my life but there are not many exciting things going on. I am a married stay at home mother of two. I have a lot of hobbies but I don't keep up with them. I am not an outgoing person so I have not made any new friends in a long time. I am very critical of myself. The article would turn into a big list of things I don't like about myself and that would be too negative.
Now that I know what I am not going to write about, it should be easier to come up with an idea. Well my mind is still blank so maybe not.

Post a CommentI know so many of these feelings!!!! Too well, and hurting too much today to write much. Great article!!! Poetry can tend to be a difficult field, as I've seen you write a lot of. (A great niche in these types of articles too) You have a gift in the "creative" outlet. I say explore it in all of heart. Imagination, intuition, anything at all, go with it. I'm sure you will get to where you need to be in writing or any other avenue that you are empowered by. =) Even in articles that highlight the "typical" "boring" lifestyles. (yours, mine, and so many others, lol) ~EXCELLENT writing.
I have been suffering from writer's block all week. This was the perfect piece to get me out of my frustrating situation.
I have that same feeling all the time :)
I loved the fact that you wrote about now knowing what to write about! It made me laugh.
I hate writer's block. Don't we all? Great job.
I think this is a very creative read. You should really explore your full potential in this type of writing. If you do I believe the sky's the limit for you. This is by far my favorite article.
You took the words right out of my mouth! (but i had pizza for dinner). I'm thick in the midst of Writer's Block right now. Good luck to us both!
I think all of us here at AC have been in your shoes at some point. Hang in there, and you'll get through it somehow!!
Going through photo's helps me with ideas, or watching TV or getting out of the house and changing the pace for a bit. Or just reading other people's work or the newspaper... Keep writing, it will come!
I have been where you are right now, but pat yourself on the back you managed to write a whole article about not knowing what to write about, and that is pretty cool.
