The snow was falling hard and fast. She wasn't sure if she would be able to make it home in time for Christmas dinner, but it was a beautiful site. The snow made it worth having to work on Christmas Day. There wasn't much for business, but it was better to be open for those that need it than to leave a family without on Christmas.
As she sat watching the snow pile up in the parking lot, she wondered back to a time when she was a little girl. She remembered the day she and her sisters took the sled down the hill for the first time. They had so much fun sliding down and crashing into the pile of snow at the bottom. Then they built a snow man and had a huge snowball fight with the neighborhood kids. She missed being a kid. Of course, that was a long time ago and everyone had gotten too old to play in the snow.
The snow slowed down just in time for her to close up the store and head home for dinner. Christmas dinner consisted of all the trimmings; including, pecan pie. After dinner, the women cleaned and the men went to watch football. If only there were kids in the house.
Finally, she couldn't take it anymore and asked everyone to come outside to look at the snow. The snowflakes were bigger than ever! Everyone came outside; although, some more reluctantly than others. The next thing she knew, her sister had the sled out and everyone took turns going down the hill. It was just as she remembered.
After sledding for a while, they decided to build a snowman. Of course, she could not resist throwing the first snowball. It did not take long for a huge snowball fight to begin. They laughed and played in the snow all night.
This was now her favorite Christmas memory. She had no idea that even adults could have so much fun. Although she hoped it would become a tradition, she wasn't going to get her hopes up.
