My Most Proud Moment as a Mom

Lissa Bagley
My ten year old daughter has been riding horses her entire life. She began competing in Saddle Seat competitions at the young age of three. As she got older the horse shows got bigger and the competition got stiffer. The amount of work that she put into her riding got greater and the titles got more prestigious. For this alone I am very proud of my daughter.

A few years ago she competed in a competition and came in 4th place out of 4 riders. She looked disappointed, but the only words she spoke were "I did my very best and now I know that I need to work on my posting and changing diagonals." I could not have been any prouder of a parent. She was able to recognize that she had the best ride that she could have had and was able to see what she needed to work on.

Just this last year, my daughter went to Kansas to compete for the title of State Champion in her age group and division. This is the title that she had her eye on for quite a few years. She worked so hard and took each and every critique to heart. She would discover what she needed to work on at each and every show she competed in and then perfected it. She had the ride of her life and took first place and won the title of State Champion. I felt pride swell in my heart. My baby girl set her goal, worked for her goal, and then achieved her goal. This is one of proudest moments as a mother.
