My mother is a really bad alcoholic. She always has been. My sister and I have tried to get her help, but it always seems like she does not want the help.
A couple of years ago, my mother got in trouble with the law 2 times over domestic disturbance charges. She was drunk both times this has happened.
The last time she got in trouble, she had to go to court in front of a judge. The judge demanded her to leave her boyfriend and move in with my grandmother and grandfather and also to attend anger management classes.
Of course being the good daughter I am, I took her to and from these classes each week. These trips from where I live are very long. About an hour away.
The day she started these classes based on her attitude when she was done with her first class made me think she did not care about how this might help her life. She was too busy worrying about how she was going to get a drink in her hand.
Living at my grandparents house was hard for her because they did not allow drinking in their home. One night she asked if she could come down my house to spend some time with the family and I said of course. Little did I know she brought beer with her and it was hard for me to turn her away.
My mother got to the point when staying with my grandparents, she was really shaky because she hadn't had anything to drink in like a week. I always told her that she will get shaky because she is having with drawls from the alcohol.
After she got done with her classes and did everything she had to do for the court in order to get the charges dropped on her, she called me one day and asked me to take her back home to her boyfriend. I told i would not do that because i only wanted what was best for her. I told her if she moved back in with him she was going to something stupid again and get herself in trouble again and then this time when she went to court she would be locked up.
Of course she got mad at me for not taking her so she called my aunt and she took her back home. Still to this day she is drinking everyday. She gets drunk everyday of her life. The earliest she has been drunk and called my house was 8:00 in the morning.
I hope one day she will realize what drinking is doing to her that she will end up dying because she is destroying her liver. I guess until she is proved wrong then maybe she might believe me.
