My MSN Groups Manager Wish List

Angel
I've only recently become an assistant manager at a MSN group and am working my way around learning everything. While doing so, I've discovered loads of useful features that are missing from MSN Groups. These following improvements would make the experience enjoyable for all.

1. The ability for MSN Group managers and assistants to change members over from getting the postings in their inbox to being forced to read the postings on the site.

-OR-

Ideally, the ability for managers and assistant managers to change the whole MSN Group over to no inbox postings and mailings.

The reason is, because sometimes when people join they forget that they selected to have all the postings sent to their email address. Countless times people have forgotten they signed up, then complain, or send nasty messages as though the management had something to do with their own account settings. Also, some members don't remove the attached post, and it clutters up the message board, and then of course there are those who reply by email and just send it in to whatever they want, and it doesn't even post to the topic but created a whole new one. Added to that, they falsely report the messages as spam which causes a backlog to those who work for MSN Groups.

2. The ability for managers and assistant managers of MSN Groups to turn off the notices of people applying for membership.

My reasoning behind this is, that it would be convenient as that's not part of my duty but the owner of the MSN Group to deal with. Why should all managers receive the notices and why not just the main managers?

3. The ability to disable certain or all members from posting files, docs, and pictures.

The reason I feel this would be useful feature is because of porn, spam, viruses, and other nasty things. A MSN Group owner has to baby-sit the site to make sure none of this occurs.

4. The ability to change the thickness of the dividers without having to create yet another page.

The dividers are faint, and you have to add more then one to make them thicker. MSN Groups counts the separators as pages and at current you are only permitted to have 200 pages. So if you have a larger detailed group, you have to suffer without separators or very faint ones.

5. The ability to move pages without having to move them one at a time.

MSN uses Java in their manager tools, thus preventing the whole highlight a few and move option. This is really annoying when you have to move over 200 pages one by one.

6. The picture upload tool to work the same in Firefox as it does in IE.

Sadly in Firefox you have to upload one picture at a time, where as in IE you can upload as much as your limit can handle.

7. The ability to post topics in Firefox that contain links, to be linked as they are when you use IE.

Many people use Firefox and post topics that the links appear as inactive. Copy and paste has to be used in this case, and not all members know how to do this.

If MSN Groups takes the time to implement these few suggestions/wishes it would solve a lot of trouble and perhaps get them more members and certainly more visitors.

    One of these days MSN will 'Get It'...oh, no, wait...they won't, will they? They are the ones that "Fix it 'till it's broke". I wish they would make it more user friendly, but I won't be holding my breath. They are still marginally better than aohell though ;}
