My Name Ain't Mu-Dear

Lakota
I sit and remember my Mu-Dear
You couldn't tell me as a child that she wasn't mine

My aunt and I argue and she says
"She my mama and only your grandmama"
"She's my Mu-Dear"

I run quickly and say
"Mu-Dear ain't you mine?"
Her soap opera's on
She ain't lookin at us and says
"My name ain't Mu-Dear"

My aunt and me turn to each other
We look back with a crazy look
"Yes it is,why the man at the store call you that", we ask.
"Everybody call me dat, but my name ain't Mu-Dear. Move girl, my stories on"

We walk away and go to our room
We stay for what felt like forever
It was probably shorter than a commercial break.

We go back go back as say
"Mu-Dear if that's not your name why people call you that?"

Frustrated and smarter than two 5yr olds
She got pencil and paper and says
"My name is Littie Ann Eliza Jane. Now go write it".
