I gave you my land in which to settle when things got rough with the Kings.
I gave you a chance to claim this new land as yours.
I gave you men who knew what it meant start a new country from scratch.
I gave you laws and rules to live by through men who knew freedom.
I gave you liberty in these new found freedoms.
I gave you self-control of the land and people from these men.
I gave you ideals through men on how to have a one-of-a-kind country.
I gave you just enough laws to govern, but yet not so much that you could not govern yourselves.
I gave you wars to teach you the fighting spirit that made you strong.
For over 200 years I gave you a meal of freedom and liberty, and you ate.
For over 200 years, I gave you a flag with 3 bold colors.
For over 200 years, I gave you a song to sing in the middle of a war.
For over 200 years, I gave you a history to be proud of.
For over 200 years, I gave you 10 laws that were embedded into the hearts of each new generation.
For over 200 years, I gave you a paper declaring to the world that you are a free people.
Now my eyes tear up to think you no longer care for me.
Now my eyes tear up to think you no longer remember my history.
Now my eyes tear up to think you no longer remember the laws I had written so long ago.
Now my eyes tear up to think you'd rather have a kings rule, than rule yourselves.
Now my eyes tear up to think you lost that fighting spirit.
Now my eyes tear up to think you would rather be many people, instead of one.
I am not old like the others on this earth. I'll be 233 years old in July. Let me live as I was born just a little longer. You have all that you need from me, the rest is up to you now.

This is truly awesome. It's sad to think how kids are being taught in school to think America is nothing special, "Just another country". It's destroying patriotism. Plus, they're not even learning the REAL history of America anymore.
Beautifully said. Very emotional and heartfelt.
Wonderful work!
Wonderful poem. I really think it is special.
We went through a violent war to come out the other end a free nation. How easy we today forget the scarifice of those who fought for what we have now.
I like this!!!!!!
