My One Year Anniversary with Associated Content

Tommorrow, November 27th, marks the one year anniversary as an Associated Content Producer. A year ago I was given the link to AC by someone in one of the prison groups I belong to. I logged on and was impressed with what I was reading, and at that moment decide AC was for me.

I had already submitted several articles to other sites, but got very little attention. As a prison rights activist, and death penalty opponent, most of the reasons for my writings is to bring awareness to different issues that I feel need to be addressed, like the death sentence, prison overcrowding, prison abuse, and other prison issues.

I have done numerous interviews with death row inmates, their supporters, and other people associated with prisons. Several articles were with Kenneth Foster Jr., a death row inmate from Texas, whose sentence was commuted from death to life in prison by Governor Rick Perry. Kenneth wrote to me and thanked me for the numerous articles, and thought that out of the 17+ thousand calls to the Governor on his behalf, some resulted from the articles I did about him.

My article about Patrick Knight, and his soliciting for jokes as "Dead Man Laughing," first appeared on Associated Content. From there, it went nation wide, and international as well. It was on Fox, CNN, Larry King, and on very many radio stations as well. The myspace page I created for him got over 30,000 page views in two weeks. I credit Associated Content for first publishing this.

Everyone I did interviews with, or articles about were all very grateful. I have another list of people waiting for me to finish their interview or story, so there is much more to come.

I found a place I feel "At Home" with and think I'll stick around for a while, a long while. Happy Anniversary to me!!
