My Opinion About Opinions

Ashby Koss
Why do some people ask for opinions if they do not want the opinion? I have had this several times before and it seems ridiculous, to ask for an opinion then the person who asked for you opinion would get mad at you opinion. Well if you really ask me then you should be ready for possibly something that you do not want to hear, that is life after all. I think the problem, in my opinion, is society, society has bred the idea into us that if someone asks for an opinion then you should tell them what they want to hear, especially when its on the smaller things in life. This is such a problem that then when you do not give you opinions they get mad at you for not giving your opinions, what a crock.

The Internet is full opinions, and many people take other peoples opinions more seriously than others. We have become a society of opinion based people, one influential person gives an opinion and somewhere someone takes in on as their personal mantra. How weird is that, really, taking on someones opinion as a mantra to live by is a little too much in my opinion, but then again that is what this is all about. People give their opinions on how people should live their life, I get this too, and all I can really say to them is " well that is a nice opinion, but I have my own". Sometimes it turns out that they are right and sometimes it turns out I was right, either way I was true to myself, at the end of the day good or bad I can say well I did what I thought was best. If I am going to have to own up to a mistake, I would rather it be a mistake that I made 100% rather than me just picking it because it was someone else's opinion. Nothing quite like taking the heat of a mistake when it was someone else's idea or thought.

Living my life true o me is what opinions are all about, of course you also have to watch yourself too. At man businesses you opinion can get get you either to the top or to the front door with your personally things. Picking when to follow your opinion or gut or follow someone else's opinion or gut feeling can be a hard thing to figure out. That is where knowing people helps, by knowing the type of person they are or what they are aiming for then you can see the result or meaning of their opinion.

Since opinions are a personal thing, they are different based on every persons life details and experiences that they have had. Some will lead you right some will lead you wrong but not on purpose, other may lead you wrong without knowing it. Some may believe in something because it was an opinion they hew of from some one else, then you could be operating on a third level opinion, and like the old game of telephone, that message can change. The trick is to stay true to yourself and you opinions without sticking your neck in the line of fire, but the again no one gets anywhere in life without risk. Stay true, bu more importantly, end the day with no regrets on who you listened too.
