That is Not My Son is another great episode of My Own Worst Enemy. One thing I like it that the writers don't drag plot lines out. We quickly learn why Dr. Noah Skinner killed the watcher. Henry thinks she just wants to protect the project but really she is Edward's lover and just wants to protect him. So much so that she sacrifices another agent in order to save Edward.
The title is in reference to one of the plot lines where Henry's son Jack has been secretly taken some sort of martial arts class instead of guitar lessons. Angie is quite proud of her son when the secret is revealed but Henry is not thrilled. All he can think about is how Jack is more like Edward. Yep, Henry still has problems with Edward. Edward knows this and even installs a safeguard when Henry learns of a way to get rid of Edward. It turns out the company doesn't kill operatives if they are "broken." Instead they erase the personality of the operative and leave the civilian personality to live a normal life. At the end of the episode, Edward injects himself with some serum that will also kill Henry if Edward is erased.
Raymond has been captured by some foreign organization so Edward goes in to save his friend. Unfortunately, Henry emerges in the middle of a shootout and calls for back up and says Henry instead of Edward. A female operative Paula/Ellen hears this as she passes out from a bullet wound. The whole episode is with everyone paranoid about whether she will reveal the secret or not. Raymond is prepared to kill Paula/Ellen to save his friend Edward so Henry does an excellent job as posing as Edward to dissuade his friend. Henry is willing to sacrifice himself in order to save Paula/Ellen since he feels responsible that she got shot. Hmmm, one minute Henry has a death wish and the next minute he just wants to live his life. The writers need to make up their mind because the inconsistency is driving me crazy.
That is Not My Son is a very interesting episode that is starting to bring out the side characters, which is good because all Henry/Edward might get a little old after awhile. I give the episode 4 out of 5 stars.
