My Perfect Valentine's Day

Barbara Hagen
My perfect Valentine's Day would go like this;
that you and I would stand on the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset
and, as the cool ocean breeze tousled our hair,
our lips would cling to each other's in a passionate kiss,
and you would tell me you love me,
while undressing me with your loving brown eyes,
and I would tell you i love you too,
while I snuggle in your arms
with my head on your chest,
and then I would place your hand on my heart
as a sign of my eternal intimate desire,
my passion,
my love and never ending devotion
as we take refuge from life's stresses
in the strength of our love
and in each other's arms
cruise ships and ferries blow their horns below,
but on the Golden Gate we don't care
because all that matters is that we are near,
and we understand and feel each other's love
without words,
just by touch and loving gazes,
and you would understand and you would sense
my never-ending yearning for you,
and I would feel your unceasing passion for me.
This is what would happen on my perfect Valentine's Day.
