My Picks for the Top Five Angelina Jolie Movie Roles
Love Her or Hate Her, She is an A-List Actress!
Lara Croft- Tomb Raider
Angelina Jolie will always be "the" Lara Croft. Jolie was excellent as the butt kicking British babe in both Tomb Raider movies. Jolie performed most of the stunts in the films and even suffered a torn ankle ligament. There is much talk about the actresses that can take her place as the next Lara Croft, but it's my opinion that none of them will hold a candle to Angelina Jolie in this role.
Lisa Rowe- Girl InterruptedJolie won an Oscar for her role as a young woman in a psychiatric hospital in this 1999 movie. She played the character so well that while watching the movie I wanted to hug Lisa Rowe and at the same time, run far away from her. Jolie deserved the Academy Award for this gritty role.
Christine Collins- ChangelingAngelina Jolie took the starring role in this film and carried it in 2008. The film was based on a true story of a woman whose son disappeared in 1928. This was a touching and maddening movie that helped Jolie win her second Oscar. While watching Jolie, it felt like she truly was Christine Collins and was experiencing the torment Christine must have felt in the search for her son.
Jane Smith- Mr. and Mrs. SmithThis 2005 movie is more famously known as the film that set off an affair between Angelina Jolie and her married co-star Brad Pitt. Pitt and Jolie are a couple now and they have lots of children together. Despite the stench of an affair with a married man, Jolie was terrific in this spy role that gave us action and comedy.
Evelyn Salt- Salt In another action role, Jolie played Evelyn Salt, an unwilling Russian spy who also works for the CIA. This 2010 movie was full of action sequences and suspense and once again Angelina Jolie did many of the stunts herself. It's already confirmed that a Salt sequel is in the works. I'm looking forward to it!
