My home feels that much older.
My hands no longer reach out to give a loving pat.
I realized I no longer had company when I sat.
She made me better when I felt blue.
She loved to play Peek-a-boo.
Coming down the stairs, you knew she was there,
Hiding on that chair, as she'd jump out and grab your hand "Oh pity, you gave me quite a scare!"
She's gotten out twice before,
if it was open, she'd head for the door.
Once out there she was a meek scared baby,
waiting being trash cans crying "save me save me!"
It has now been two full days so I know you're gone.
Too long, so I know somethings wrong.
I have a feeling someone thought you were a stray,
they didn't know you had a home to stay.
Because the other alternative I don't want to think.
That my pity, makes my heart sink.
Perhaps you'll be returned, but that I doubt,
I can feel it in my heart, its you I'll be without.
The vet told me years ago of the danger of a collar,
Kittens strangling themselves was the bother.
So no one knew you had a home.
I hope that's it, because otherwise, with all the wildlife here, it can only means certain doom.
