I don't write about mysticism
Or the ethereal
The elements man can only dream about
Until he reaches the other side
I don't often write about nature
And art
Much less high art
things only a sophist contemplates
I don't write in the style of Shakespeare or Marvel
Or Auden or Eliot
I have my own rhythm and rhyme scheme
I'm a simple girl
With simple thoughts with an ordinary mind
Living in ordinary times
And my writing resembles my feelings
From day to day
And moment to moment
And it may offend some
And bore others
But it's my writing
And "it little profits" that a line of writing
Is read without understanding.
