My Predictions for 07/07/07: Once in a Lifetime, Baby!

Ah, 2007. It will certainly be a big year for many people. Personally it will be the first full year I have been a college graduate, hopefully I will buy my first house this year and my beloved little cousin starts kindergarten. If you really think about 2007, you can see why it is also going to be the year of business for different industries. Why? Call it a lucky guess, but I can see big promise on the date of July 7, 2007. 07/07/07! Here are some of my top 7 predictions for why 07/07/07 could be the best day of the year:

#7-James Bond's favorite day:
I will admit I know nothing about James Bond. I do not even think I¡¦ve seen a whole James Bond movie without leaving the room or falling asleep however, I can see the promise in the day the 007 will make his presence known. Spike TV, TNT, TBS, all the manly cable/Direct-TV/Dish networks will have a field day with this one. "James Bond marathon starts tomorrow, July 07, 2007 at 7:00pm right here on Spike." Can't you see the behind the scenes marathons? If you are a diehard James Bond fan get a martini and stay glued to your TV set or host your own marathon with your high-tech home movie theatre. Make your favorite spy proud.

#6- A day to get "lucky":
Think about last year's horrible day- June 6th, 2006. It was the day that a disappointing movie called The Omen premiered and it was the day that many Christians thought it would be the end of the world. There won¡¦t be an evil doings on 07/07/2007 though, unless it is in your bedroom. While the 7th doesn¡¦t boast a full moon, there will have been a full moon 7 days prior on June 30th so save your energy! This could very easily be combined with #7 on the list but the number 7 has a bit of luck attached to it. In many religious works such as the Bible for example, the number 7 denotes the coming together (hey I don¡¦t want to be too explicit) of a man and a woman. The number used to represent a man is 3 and the number used to represent a woman is a 4. The sum of those numbers make 7 so it could indeed trigger something that even Viagra couldn't make rise.

#5- A day to learn about pop culture:
Inspired by a recent episode of Top Chef on Bravo it made me think of things I didn't know much about. The episode had the chefs make meals to interpret the seven deadly sins: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. The winning dish was envy which was comprised of two different fish that were "envious" of each other. Anyway, this made me think of other popular sevens: The seven ancient wonders of the world, the seven dirty words you can't say on television from George Carlin, the seven dwarfs, watch Marliyn Monroe's "The Seven Year Itch" to see the infamous white dress scene, the seven continents and so many more. There is just so much out in pop culture land that deals with the number seven, have fun!

#4- A day to be a complete and utter fool:
Ok, so maybe I just made this up but here is an alternative Saturday evening for you: Goodwill bowling. This activity can be adapted for any audience. Get together a group of people (the more the better) and go to a local Goodwill/Salvation Army/thrift store of choice. Have everyone write their names down and draw names before going in the store (or if you want to pick someone besides yourself you may do that as well). Take the name of the person and exactly seven dollars into the store with you. With that seven dollars you must buy clothing for this person and they must wear their new clothing to a bowling alley along with the group. It is a riot and as I said before you can set your own limits: bowling alley¡¦s prefer you to be well clothed. To make it special for July 7th, whoever has the most frames where 7 pins were knocked down is the winner. That way it gives us bad bowlers a shot of actually winning.

#3- A day to be a lazy bum:
This one is self explanatory. If you believe in God then you know that he rested on the seventh day, so since there are three 7's associated with this day lounge it up. Remember you might be able to catch that James Bond marathon in #7.

#2- The day to change your status and maybe even your last name:
A warm sunny summer day provides a perfect backdrop for a dream wedding. 07/07/2007 definitly has promise to be one of the most desirable wedding days in history. How easy would it be for husbands to remember their anniversary date? Book your chapel now before it gets full.

#1- The day to go to Las Vegas
Odds are that the most popular place in the world will be Las Vegas on this day. Sure the Nevada sun may be extremely hot but I can only imagine what some of the casinos have planned for such a fantastic gambling day. Here is some gambling knowledge that may make this an easy trip to take because when you roll two standard dice, seven is the number most likely to occur. Why? Because it is the sum of any two opposite sides on a dice. So dice 1 is a 4 and dice two is a 3, dice 1 is a 1 and dice two is a 6, dice 1 is a 2 and dice 2 is a 5 and so on. If you want to really have fun on the 7th book your rooms and tickets now because Sin City never looked so good.
