While this list is by no means complete, here are my predictions for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Undead Monkey:
I believe the undead monkey is going to be important somehow. True, he's likely the reason that Barbossa is still "alive", and he was great for comic relief, and payment to Tia Dalma in the second movie. But can that really be the only purpose he serves? I don't think so.
New Creatures:
In the first movie we had skele-dudes, and in the second we had fish-faces and the Kraken. I expect that in the third movie we'll have another one or two creatures to discover. Remember, they'll be traveling to "the end of the world, to fetch back wit' ya, Jack". Disney tends to do their homework, and so I'm expecting some mythical creatures from Asian cultures.
Bonus Prediction: Jack didn't kill the Kraken- he befriended/controlled it. Ok, so it's highly unlikely, but aren't movies all about surprise?
Love Triangle:
As much as movie goers love Jack Sparrow, the story is really about Will Turner. Jack represents everything that Elizabeth desires to be, but Will embodies what she wants to have. And really, Will is becoming more of a pirate in each movie. The freedom she desires with the stability she needs won't be mutually exclusive by the end of this movie.
So I'm predicting some hot and heavy scenes (though never truly compromising) with Jack, but that she'll choose Will in the end. Of course, I'd like to see Tia Dalma end up with Jack. Maybe even as payment.
Dear Papa:
Will won't fail his father. Bootstrap Bill will be freed in the end with the death of Davy Jones. But not before there is a touching interlude between father and son, and probably a little fighting. And definitely not without some measure of self sacrifice.
I'm predicting that Bootstrap will be the one to finally present the heart to Will. He may even die after assuring his son that death is better than serving the sadistic Jones.
"Where's My Ship?":
I may not be very popular for this, but I think Barbossa will end up with the Pearl. True, Jack went through hell over that ship, he even made a bargain with Davy Jones to get it back. Everything he's done through these movies has been directly or indirectly because of his desire to remain captain of that particular ship. But I don't think he'll get to keep it in the end. Barbossa wants it just as bad, and after helping Will and Elizabeth find Jack and the Pearl, are they likely to turn around and say "ok, you can leave now, and take the monkey with you"? It's likely that he'll get the ship, try to kill Jack, and that will make them kill Barbossa to protect Jack- but that just seems too predictable to me.
In fact, Barbossa sailing off with Jack's ship could be the start of a fourth movie.
Dear Papa Part 2:
I believe everyone is now aware that Keith Richards will be appearing in the third movie as Jack's dad. This is even more amusing when you find out that Depp modeled his character after Richards. I actually have two predictions that are mutually exclusive, and I could be labeled as "playing the field" here.
Prediction 1: Keith Richards' character will not add anything to the story- he'll simply be there for humorous WTF moments.
Prediction 2: Keith Richards will actually be integral to the plot, being the one who actually rescues Jack, with Will and Elizabeth just having very good timing to pick up the pair.
So those are my predictions- if you disagree, write up a post of your predictions and put a link in the comments.
