When I was in 3rd grade, my grandmother on my father's side passed away in late 1998, early 1999 while my parents and I still lived up in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Within a week after her death, my parents and I drove (well...my mom dove, I could not actually drive at the time) down to Florida for the funeral and we stayed in my grandmother's house, which is now the home we currently live it. Our dog at the time, which we perfectly named "Puppy" kept staring at the hideous brown chair by the window in the living room that my grandmother always sat in, which the exception of when she was sleeping. Then, on occasion she would happily trot over to the chair and act like she was being scratched behind the ear. My parents and I had not been in Florida in almost 2 years at this point and we had gotten Puppy about a year before my grandmother's death. So it was not as if my dog was merely pretending to see someone or pretending to have her ear scratched because she missed my grandmother because she never knew my grandmother. I honestly believe it was because she actually saw my grandmother's ghost sitting in the chair and my grandmother was actually petting my dog.
A couple years after we gave Puppy to a family that really wanted a dog; we got our current dog, a Jack Russell terrier which we have named "Walter." Of course Walter did not know my grandmother but within a few days of getting him, I noticed that he would be staring in the same spot that my grandmother used to sit in. Even though the chair had been sitting in our lovely landfills for a few years at this point, I was still surprised to see this behavior once again. Also, by this point Puppy had stopped taking notice of whatever she may have been seeing after we threw that plug ugly chair away. So seeing Walter growling and barking at the same exact spot was shocking to me because at the time, I thought my grandmother's sprit was attached to the chair. I was wrong because still to this day, on occasion, Walter will still stare at that same spot by the window as if he is seeing someone. Whether it is my grandmother's ghost or if it is just residual energy of my grandmother, I firmly believe that animals are psychic.
I have heard countless stories of how animals will go to the door a few minutes before their owner gets home, no matter how erratic the owner's schedule is. As well as many stories of major weather catastrophes such as a major Tsunami, even before it hits the media, the owner's pets are acting strangely.
