My Quest to Lose Weight Without Surgery #15

Stuck... In a Rut

I'm not sure where we left off, but I am still continuing my plan of getting up at 4am to workout at the gym. I am doing 20-30 minutes of weight training followed by 30 minutes on the stairstepping machine and 30 minutes on the elliptical.

I have been continuing to manage my diet, however I have not lost a single pound in an entire week! I must have hit a plateau, which is the weight-loss person's bitter enemy. It's incredibly frustrating. I had hoped and planned to be down ten pounds from here in the next two weeks, but I fear that it may not be possible while none of the pounds seem to be coming off.

I'm very discouraged. Like most folks trying to lose weight I have moments where I just want to go grab a huge piece of cake and be done with the dieting! I have been dieting for nearly four months! Sure, I am down twenty pounds from when I started, but these last 10-15 lbs feel like they are going to be the very end of me. I have been reading as much as I possibly can about blowing past a plateau though, so I will hopefully have some good advice to bring back the next time I write!

One thing I hadn't considered was my salt intake. I season almost everything I cook with sea salt. I am going to try to go cold-turkey on the salt for one week and see if that helps. I heard that increase in salt causes a good deal of water retention. We'll see what I can come up with to combat this plateau!
